What about Great Britain? - Israel

What about Great Britain?

How have British people come to believe our nation is specially favoured by God?
Is there any justification for this belief?
Why do most Britons believe as they do about Israel?
Are these questions related?
Consider carefully this prophecy via Lance Lambert - received just before the Rioting started in London and spread to other cities around Britain. August 2011
This piece from Melanie Philips might make a good companion piece. UK riots 2011 Britain's liberal intelligentsia smashed virtually every social value.

In June 2003   Derek Prince   gave a call to the British Church

"ARE WE ON THE EDGE OF JUDGEMENT?"

Isaiah 60 v12    says,  “For the nation and kingdom which shall not serve you, shall perish, and nations shall be utterly ruined.”   where  “you” is re-gathered Israel, and that is very hard for British people to digest.    . . I’m deeply concerned about the way the Word of God is being handled in Britain.    What is called Replacement Theology is directly contrary to this verse, and unless Britain repents, it will perish. Very few people can take this seriously. The truth is, we determine our destiny on how we respond to what God is doing for Israel.
I’m asking you British, what are you doing with your voices, are you speaking out, are you praying, or are we just watching things slide?    Few nations have been so favoured by God as the British, and in some ways we’ve responded, but right now we are on top of a slippery slope, which will lead us to disaster. "
In 2006 and 2007 God revealed more answers to the above questions
"The Destiny of Britain" and "The Forsaken Promise", are DVD sets produced by Hugh Kitson for the Hatikvah Film Trust. They document Britain's evangelical heritage and mandate from God to see the Jews returned to their ancient homeland. As the story unfolds, it confronts Great Britain with material that calls for repentance.
A Nation Called by God is a booklet with material by Ken Burnett that draws together the whole question of Great Britain's part in God's dealings with Israel and the change of heart that is required.

David Davies spoke as part of the National Day of Repentance in 2006. His message "Britain's Last Mandate", is now available on CD. The message that God has given Britain one last mandate provides a fitting response to the above DVDs and demands action from us! - - -
Obtainable from Hatikvah Trust
These four items were produced to awake the church in Britain to Britain's historical commitment to God's purposes for Israel.
The contrast with the prevailing majority view (hatred of Israel ) is shocking.
A Nation Called by God briefly documents the broad vision among prominent Evangelical church leaders in the two centuries leading up to the Balfour Declaration.
"The Destiny of Britain" and "the Forsaken Promise" DVDs document the whole history of Britain's mandate, under the League of Nations and under God, and our failure to discharge that mandate.
David Davies spoke as part of the follow-up to the "Forsaken Promise"
His message that God has given Britain one last mandate is sobering not widely acknowledged.
The History of God's call    (explained in full in the above publications)
" A Nation Called by God "  reviews the writings of great evangelical churchmen who cared about Israel in God's plan and in His word.  These men included ...  William Cowper, John Owen, John Wesley, Robert Murray McCheyn, William Wilberforce, Charles Haddon Spurgeon and Bishop J C Ryle.
The first evangelical action was by means of "the London Society for promoting Christianity among the Jews", which is still active as "CMJ".   This is recognized as being the start of Christian Zionism.   This movement of evangelical Christianity started affecting the national policy through godly men in government.  In 1840, war in the Levant saw numerous Brits calling for Israel's restoration, but the land was still under Turkish control.  1841 saw thew first Anglican bishop in Jerusalem.
1917 saw the Balfour Declaration and Britain's allied forces capture of Palestine, with Allenby's entry to Jerusalem, having dismounted from his horse to walk in; recognising that only the Messiah should ride into Jerusalem.
Burnett summarises,  "It was His divine will to grant Great Britain both the responsibility and the privilege of establishing a homeland for the Jewish people"  " He chose Britain to be His Cyrus nation."

So Britain was chosen, but for a purpose

From that time forward, the British governments and administrators have wriggled and squirmed and done everything to obstruct the establishment of Israel   ( Daniel 9 v6-8)    "The Forsaken Promise" recounts the suffering these obstructions caused the Jews in the land, how the Arabs were encouraged to riot against the Jews, how law enforcement looked the other way during Arab massacres like that at Hebron and subsequently forcibly removed the surviving Jews.  The story continues with Winston Churchill's division of the Jewish homeland into 28% for the Jews and 72% for the Arabs,  Britain being granted the Mandate of Palestine by the League of Nations which gave Britain the responsibility of implementing the Balfour declaration, and Britain's actions in preventing Jewish immigration.   The full story of Britain's treachery are well worth learning from this booklet and DVD.
Britain's actions caused an untold number of Jews to perish in the Holocaust, who might otherwise have escaped to their homeland.   In 1947 Britain had the largest Empire the world had seen, but since 1948 it has disappeared; one might even say "imploded"
Several scriptures come to mind at this point...
"He who blesses you ......."   Genesis 12 v2-3,    "If my people......"  2 Chronicles 7v14   , Hebrews 12 v16-17 concerning repentance, without which there is no blessing, "The nation that will not serve Israel will perish"  Isaiah 60 v12, and Esther 4 v14 about the call to play our part in rescuing Israel.
Since the time of great men mentioned above, the church has largely abandoned this calling and adopted Replacement Theology and Anti-Semitism (or Anti-Israelism), so the church has not been influencing the government to take the godly route and fulfil our national call.
Thus the privilege of being a specially called nation is not what many suppose ( God loves Britain most ) but a responsibility betrayed, for which we are to come under judgment unless we repent!
Why did Britain  become so arrogant while abandoning the call placed upon the nation?
Why do people in Britain so willingly believe all the Arab propaganda and rush to hate and condemn Israel?

How has Britain fulfilled her Mandate from God ?

History suggests, Very badly !
Newly revealed evidence suggests Britain actively worked against its mandate from God and the Mandate from the League of Nations. Condensed extracts below - full article here.
September 11, 1947. On the eve of the Arab League’s political committee meeting to decide on the Arab response to the United Nations Special Committee on Palestine report [supporting the end of the British mandate and partitioning the land between Jews and Arabs], the Lebanese newspaper L’Orient argued that, like the Greater Syria plan [that aimed to unite Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine], the Oriental Bloc - Britain’s planned regional defense pact – hung over the independence of Arab countries and the Arab League like the Sword of Damocles.
................Lebanese newspaper Le Soir published an article reporting that Brig. Clayton – “architect” of the Greater Syria plan, was now advocating a new scheme for the partition of Palestine. The plan proposed that : “Imperialist Lebanon will annex the Western Galilee up to Shavei Zion; Syria the northeastern part of the Galilee and part of its southern region; Egypt will have part of the cake; and Transjordan will swallow up the rest.”
..............Reports in the Haganah archives from those months – where Clayton’s name figures frequently – tie the escalation in the Arab-Jewish conflict to Britain’s efforts to secure its strategic position in the Middle East. They, too, alluded to a new scheme, promoted by the British secret services in Cairo, to divide Palestine between the neighboring Arab states.
............. in the 1940s, Britain conducted a two-track policy in the Middle East: one, a well-documented, official policy defined by Whitehall under both the Conservative and Labour parties; the second was informal and secretive, which can be termed “regional,” implemented by “agents in the field,” which left few traces in British archives. It was perpetrated by a small, influential group of Arabist secret agents who manipulated the cabinet in London and implemented their own policies, which deviated from the official position. These agents enjoyed a unique status as intermediaries between Whitehall and local Arab leaders. Either intentionally, or because of deep-seated personal beliefs, they provided biased assessments.

Why is Britain's Media so violently Anti Israel?

Here are a few possible answers.
We noticed God's hand on our endeavours (or perhaps, just the success of our endeavours) and became proud.  But the nation had forgotten its responsibility as explained by those godly men.
In those less cynical times, a people who had been brought up on "Land of Hope and Glory" and "Rule Britannia" willingly believed what the media (newspapers and newsreels) told them.  The same could be supposed of what officers told men serving in the armed forces in British Mandate Palestine.   We now know of Britain's duplicity and hostility towards the Jews and their promised state, but at the time it was acceptable practice to stigmatize those whom Britain opposed; be they "Hun", "Yellow Peril" or whatever the Jews were called at the time.  (doubtlessly not respectful)   How many present day opinion formers had their opinions formed by the lies told by the British government?
Britain called (and some still call) the Jews terrorists on account of the bombing of the King David Hotel, that caused the deaths of British soldiers.   Terrorists target and kill civilians, and Winston Churchill targeted and killed civilians in WWII, but the King David Hotel bomb targeted and killed soldiers of an army that was acting as an enemy of Israel.   The distinction that brands Israel "terrorist" is pure spin, but people were less immune to spin in those days.   Remember Britain was mandated to assist the creation of the state of Israel but was, instead, actively conspiring with the Arab enemies who were attempting to exterminate the new state.   Britain's representatives advised the Arabs to riot (including massacring the Jewish community of Hebron) and sat on their hands rather than quell the bloodshed.
Britain formed its foreign policy on the basis of self interest, so "our friends" are those who are of economic importance to us.  So the Arab was praised and romanticized in media and movies to improve the popular perception of them, and assist British relations with oil producing Arab states.   Britain also fostered warm relationships with Arab kingdoms by educating their princes in top schools and military academies - which also fostered a thriving arms trade.   Remember the celebrity of Lawrence of Arabia and the fact that the Jordanian Arab league that invaded Israel was commanded by Lt Gen Sir John Bagot Glubb.   Perhaps the greatest fallacy of modern times is that "Our enemy's enemies are our friends", but were the Israelis blackened as our enemies in order to enhance our friendly relations with Arab kingdoms?   The negative effects for Israel have not been diminished, even as the Arabian area has been divided into  states just as new as Israel, and which have since mostly become dictatorships instead of kingdoms.
And now, British policy is now increasingly aligned with European Union policy, which is avowedly secular, and even more strongly anti-Israel.
Indeed Ron Prosor, Israel's excellent Ambassador to Britain, described Britain as the "Western headquarters of the assault on Israel's legitimacy" in a farewell op-ed in the Daily Telegraph. This observation refers to the UK based NGOs and academia as well as to the media.
The BBC has an agenda that is anti-Israel, and other broadcasters tend to follow the BBC line.

Why hasn't Britain's Royal Family visited Israel?

Prince Charles visited Saudi Arabia last February, but set foot in Israel briefly only once, for the funeral of slain Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin in 1995.
Prince Andrew and Prince Harry were at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix inNovember 2014
Prince Andrew also visited Saudi Arabia (at the request of the Foreign Office, it was announced).
Prince Harry also visited Oman, as did Prince Charles in 2013 and the Queen 2010.
Prince Phillip has been to Israel twice - with no publicity whatsoever but , presumably, with the Queen's blessing. Both visits were connected with his mother, Princess Alice, who is counted as a righteous gentile and buried there.

The Queen is a Christian woman, and would surely welcome the chance to visit Israel. One can only assume the Foreign Office has never allowed this to happen. The signs are that the Foreign Office is still very pro-Arab and therefore anti-Israel. (as Prince Charles appears to be) Could it be that the people in power in the F.O. were all educated at top schools and universities, along with Arab princes, and have a strong old boys relationship?

Arabism

It has even been suggested that the British love of things Arab and consequent siding against Israel could even be attributed to the Turkish Delight commercials that ran through the 1970s and 1980s. ( "Full of Eastern Promise" )

Stranger things have happened in forming public perception.

Britain's Government funding political activism in Israel - 2009

Israel is up in arms over a declaration by a British government spokesman that the UK is funding political activity in Israel. British spokesman Martin Day said in an interview in Dubai with Al-Arabiya television last week that the British government was "taking practical steps towards freezing settlement activities." "For instance," Day said, "we finance projects aimed at halting settlement activities. One of these projects seeks to build new Palestinian neighborhoods in east Jerusalem and save Palestinian houses from demolition."
In addition, Day said in an Arabic interview, "we also finance organizations that monitor settlement activities." He further stated that "products from the settlements do not enjoy preferential custom duties that we offer to products coming from Israel. In light of this, we can say that we are taking effective and practical steps against settlement activities."
"The UK is spending £450,000 over 4 years to support projects in east Jerusalem and the West Bank that help Palestinians better understand and effectively use the Israeli planning laws to gain permission both retrospectively for existing homes, and prospectively for new homes on their side of the Green Line," she said.
Yossi Levy, the ministry's spokesman for the Hebrew press, characterized Day's comments as the "height of chutzpah," and said such activity was "unheard of." Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said, "We can't recall any other case of a democratic country funding political activities inside another democratic country."

Jerusalem Post reported that Breaking the Silence ( responsible for a "report" damning the IDF for alleged atrocities in Gaza) is funded by several European governments, including Britain. So the British and European governments fund an organisation which smears Israel

So - ARE WE ON THE EDGE OF JUDGEMENT?

David Davies, ministering at repentance events, spoke of  the burden God placed on him to tell Britain that it has a "final mandate" concerning Israel; the terms sounding very much like a last chance.

Is Britain being overcome by Islam through immigration(Hiraj)  ?

Read the Old Testament to see how nations under God's judgment were overrun by other, cruel and bloodthirsty nations or empires and brought into fear and subjection through violence and terror.
Think about that as you read your newspaper !

A Response ?

Wildolive challenges the belief that Britain (or any nation) can be regarded as a "Christian" nation, and also the idea of misappropriating promises made to Israel.

New era as British hostility reaches crescendo

by Robin Shepherd - July 2009
It has been a terrible month for Israel's reputation in Great Britain. The government has announced a partial arms embargo in protest of Operation Cast Lead. The Charity War on Want has held a launch event for a new book entitledIsraeli Apartheid: A Beginners Guide. The Guardian has featured commentaries promoting the apartheid analogy as well as accusing Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu of using Nazi language to defend settlement policy. The BBC and other media outlets have given massive coverage to the recent Breaking the Silence report slamming the IDF for committing "war crimes." Barely a day goes by without a new front being opened against the Jewish state.
.............
There's something in the air. The Israel-haters smell blood, and they're going in for the kill. It could be that we are on the threshold of a new era. But why now? The simplest explanation is that the relentless, unremitting stream of anti-Israeli invective that has been pumped into the public mind in Britain over the last decade or so was always going to reach critical mass at some point. There is nothing particularly significant about the timing. The clock has been ticking for years. Israel's time has simply come.
...............
Netanyahu's new emphasis on insisting that the Palestinians recognize Israel as a specifically Jewish state is pushing Israel's opponents against the wall and forcing them to declare themselves with greater clarity. Of course, this does not just apply to Britain. But as a country whose opinion forming classes rank among the most hostile to Israel in the Western world, the move has provoked a particularly hysterical reaction. Since the Palestinians have made it clear that they have no intention of recognizing Israel as a Jewish state, British opponents of Israel have been forced to choose between accepting that Palestinian rejectionism forms the real root cause of the conflict or themselves rejecting the Jewish character of Israel and the whole Zionist enterprise to boot.

Bye-Bye Britain

Caroline Glick frontpagemag.com bye-bye-London (Article begins)
In an interview with Haaretz in November 2010, British novelist Martin Amis said the following about discussions of Israel in his motherland:
I live in a mildly anti-Semitic country, and Europe is mildly anti-Semitic, and they hold Israel to a higher moral standard than its neighbors. If you bring up Israel in a public meeting in England, the whole atmosphere changes. The standard left-wing person never feels more comfortable than when attacking Israel. Because they are the only foreigners you can attack. Everyone else is protected by having dark skin, or colonial history, or something. But you can attack Israel. And the atmosphere becomes very unpleasant. It is traditional, snobbish, British anti-Semitism combined with present-day circumstances.
After participating last week in a debate in London about Israeli communities beyond the 1949 armistice lines organized by the self-consciously pretentious Intelligence Squared debating society, I can now say from personal experience that Amis is correct. The public atmosphere in England regarding Israel is ugly and violent. .....................
(Article ends) One positive note, I had a breakfast discussion last Wednesday morning with activists from the Zionist Federation of Britain. The people I met are committed, warm, hardworking Zionists. I wish them all the best, and mainly that means, that I hope that these wonderful people and their families make aliyah. While their work is worthwhile, there is no future for Jews in England.
In late summer 2014, as Britain's condemnation of Israel for standing up to Hamas terror was fading from the news, Britain was horrified and indignant that IS / ISIL / ISIS beheaded a British aid worker held hostage against American air attacks on IS; among many other atrocities. Somehow IS is a vile terrorist organisation while Hamas is merely a victim of Israeli aggression!
The talking heads all said the usual things about tracking down those responsible and that "Islam is a religion of peace," proving that they do not even understand the problem, far less have the means to tackle it! (See alsoIslam religion of peace)
Have we all forgotten the jihadist murder of soldier Lee Rigby in a street in London ? It was committed by British converts to Islam, in the name of the Muslim Umah.
Does this not all prove that Britain is under the Genesis 12 curse ?

Footnote 1
A note re the context of 2 Chronicles 7 v14 is of Israel, the only nation which God has called by His name.   However, although the principle can be borrowed and applied to the People called by His name to come out of the nations to be His people,  I  would hesitate to suggest that the land to be healed would be the physical land of unbelieving Britain (or wherever).  Perhaps the application is that God would heal the work and witness of His church in our land, to be prepared for these last days.
